The dowel and clamp are used to lock the tube against the die. There are two elements of primary importance that determine the dowel and the clamp: the length and the finish of the throat. These are two elements that must be studied and designed with great care, as they improve the grip on the tube. The dowel and clamp can have a straight or shaped profile.
